International Art Residency, "Tri krapki", Cherson, Tyagin, Ukraine. Curators: Olena Afanasijeva, Natalija Bimbyraitė. 2021
Art object "Square No. 10"
Idea of the work: The archaeological research of the 14th-century castle of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas was carried out in 2021 in the Cherson region, in the village of Tyagin, Beryslav district. The international art residency "Tri krapki" took place there. The source of inspiration for the work "Square No. 10" is the excavation of the 14th–17th-century fortress and the artefacts reflecting the syncretism of cultures. The art object "Square No. 10" symbolises a portal of time from Ukraine to Lithuania. It is closely connected with historical facts and the land. It is a new way of seeing the ties between Lithuania and Ukraine through the balance of time and space, the equilibrium of history and art, and the cultural connections between generations and their activity. Material: sand.
